Everywhere you turn you will find adverts on how to lose fat. These are plastered about newspapers, the internet, television and the radio, it is impossible to avoid the issue.

It is a well known fact that the issue of obesity is becoming more serious by the day and that the market for weight loss products continues to grow. There are loads of items that people say will help you and these include food types, medication, machines or regimes.

But why do humans appear to be the only creatures that struggle when it comes to maintaining healthy weight? It does not take a rocket scientist to give us the answer.

Although a number of factors influence weight loss, diet must be considered the major factor. We are what we eat.

It is recommended that we ensure that we have a healthy eating plan with a good mixture of carbohydrates, proteins and good fats (in small quantities). An eating plan of this nature would include fresh fruit and vegetables, white meat (such as chicken and turkey), fish and of course whole grain foods. It can be quite a test to eat healthily all the time so you are allowed to now and then have a small treat in the shape of a chocolate or processed foods but it is really important to ensure that these are only eaten in moderation.

Exercising properly is also important for ensuring that you lose fat. If you don’t then the food that you eat will be taken in and stored as fat if you fail to convert it into energy. It is a simple fact of life that the more advanced the technology around us, the less we are required to do any form of exercise.

If you think about the fact that now most of us have computers and these are connected to the internet. We are now able to do all of our shopping online and don’t have to traipse around the mall. This and other activities such as booking tickets and banking means that there is no need to go to the shops and actually this is a reduction in the amount of exercise that we do. As a result we start to join the gym and make sure that we get onto the treadmill and the dreaded step machine.

The first steps have been taken then, you have joined the gym, you are eating healthily and after a week you might think that it is time to jump on the scale to see how far you have come. By all means do this but do not be caught in the trap where you expect to suddenly have lost weight as it does not always work like this. You might find that you are in fact a bit heavier and the most likely reason for this is that you are starting to develop muscle and as you should know, muscle weighs more than fat does. So take heart and know that you are doing the right thing. You are losing weight.

Despite the fact that one does have to work a little to get the best results, it is definitely worthwhile. You will soon find that you are able to tell your friends how to lose fat and they will want to look like you as well.
